Thank you to all people with disabilities, family members,friends, supporters, organizations, and associations who have contributed their time, energy, and voices.
Thank you to everyone who held signs, gave speeches, listened, organized, took photos, and stood with us:
Self-determination and participation are not luxuries. They are human rights.
Special thanks also go to our political representative, Mr. Leßmann, who took the time to speak with us. It is important to talk to one another. At the same time, it is important to clearly voice our concerns.
Many people with disabilities already find that they have to justify their need for support time and again. That is why talk of cost savings, “more efficient use of resources,” or community-based solutions causes them great concern.
For us, this isn’t about comfort—it’s about the ability to decide for ourselves how and where we live. For people without disabilities, it would be a scandal if they were to lose the right to decide for themselves where and how they want to live.
The discussions are continuing. And we will continue to share our perspective.
Nothing about us without us.
